The GYP Youth Humanitarian Journalism Program empowers young people to use journalism, photography, video, and storytelling to explore humanitarian issues and inspire positive change.
We believe that young people can make a difference by sharing stories from their communities and helping others better understand the challenges facing our world.
Whether you are interested in writing, photography, filmmaking, or digital media, this program provides opportunities to learn, create, and connect with youth from around the world.
What Participants Do
Participants may engage in a variety of journalism and storytelling activities:
Create short news reports, interviews, feature stories, and documentary videos focused on humanitarian issues and community impact.
Video Journalism

Photojournalism
Capture powerful images that tell stories about people, communities, and social challenges.
Humanitarian Reporting
Research and write articles, opinion pieces, feature stories, and investigative reports.
Digital Storytelling
Use multimedia tools, social media, podcasts, and interactive content to engage audiences.
International Collaboration
Work with students from different countries on joint reporting and storytelling projects.
Event Coverage
Report on youth forums, humanitarian conferences, nonprofit initiatives, and community service projects.
The Global Youth Humanitarian Journalist Network
GYP is building a growing international network of youth journalists and storytellers.
